This is a campaign design project that I completed as part of my course with The Graphic Design School. The brief was to create a full promotional campaign design for Bwtcamp, a Welsh language course running in the heart of London. It is nothing like traditional language learning, at its heart it wants to make language learning fun, to encourage laughter and to build confidence in speaking. The course is designed to be an ‘experience,’ a boot camp that takes the responsibility for learning off the shoulder of the learner and immerses them in a world where they are having such an engaging time they don’t notice they’re learning.

I have created a brand and a campaign to promote the course. I have used the Welsh ‘w’ as the main logo element which is often used in Welsh spellings of English words, creating some spellings that are funny to English eyes. It uses bold colours and plays with the quotation mark shape to refer to the language element and to create quirky, fun designs.
The designs work like puzzles or quizzes, designed to tap in to the part of the brain that loves challenges, escape rooms and crosswords. To see language as a code to be cracked.
It would be promoted mostly via public transport advertising and plays on the branding for London Underground, using Welsh translations of famous London stations and landmarks.
